Ok, I've got to add this to my blog because I keep referring other people to it. It's a video of DJ Functual, a dude out of Ft. Lauderdale, who goes thru and plays you all of the original songs that hip-hop artists sample. It's very interesting and has caused me to purchase almost $20 in music so far.
LOTS of good drumming either exposed or is hiding in this music in a style you don't hear anyone play anymore -- like who plays sixteenths on an opening/closing hi-hat with 4-on-the-floor bass drumming to back a guitar solo these days??? Sounds great though. Excellent brass sections...
